Silica Sinter

Silica sinter occurs around many hot springs worldwide, and contain a host of extremophilic microorganisms. There is no evidence to suggest that any heavy metals are associated preferentially with the hyperthermophiles at the high temperature. Photo © copyright by Robert Faucher.
