Facade

While photographing this half-buried structure, a resident of South Pass City stoped me to say this was his uncle's garage. When I questioned how he could get any vehicle into it, he stated that after the State bought all the property they took the garage door off and replaced it with this rock and mortar version. South Pass City is a former station on the Oregon Trail. It became a ghost town after later gold mines were closed. The entire community is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
